The VGTC was, and is, also represented in various consultative and working groups, e.g. the round table discussions on the integration of deaf children in a mainstream classroom with the aid of a (sign language) interpreter. In this regard the VGTC took the initiative to work with all concerned (schools, CAB, Fevlado...) on an extensive text that was then presented to the appropriate authorities. In recent years, the VGTC has put itself forward as partner in discussions and source of information for various governments in matters dealing with the linguistic (and socio-cultural) aspects of being deaf. One example: the VGTC took part in talks that led to a resolution in the Flemish parliament (dated 05 May 1999) on the issue of persons with an auditory disability.
Finally, we would like to draw attention to the VGTC's role as information provider. One of the ways it performs this role is by writing and disseminating working documents.
